Owing to the geographic location, the weather in North-east India is mostly pleasant. During winters, the average temperature ranges from -10o to 15o across the region. The summers are mostly pleasant, although some parts of Assam can get quite warm with temperatures reaching as high as 40o. Since the North-east Indian states are known to have abundant rainfall, it is advised not to visit during peak monsoon owing to the high chances of landslides causing road blocks. However, if you wish to enjoy the views of rain-soaked mountains, glorious waterfalls and long walks in the midst of low-lying clouds, this would be a great time to visit the North East.
Ideally, November to April is the best time to visit the North East tourist places, as you can expect wonderful weather. However, it can get extremely cold in the mountain areas around December till February, so prepare and pack accordingly. Eventually, the best time to visit North East India depends on how you plan to spend your time there.
